Our Commitment
We want every veteran, family member, and caregiver — including readers using assistive technology — to be able to use this site. Many of our readers live with serious illness, and accessibility is central to our mission, not an afterthought.
Standards We Aim For
We work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. Practical steps we take include:
- Descriptive alternative text on informative images;
- A logical heading structure (one H1 per page, sequential H2/H3 sections);
- Descriptive link text rather than “click here”;
- Readable font sizes, sufficient color contrast, and a responsive layout that supports zoom up to 200%;
- Plain-language writing, defined acronyms, and structured summaries for complex benefit rules.
Known Limitations
Some third-party content (such as embedded advertising) may not fully meet these standards. We continue to review and improve.
