Our Commitment to Accessibility
Djvi — VA Mesothelioma & Asbestos Benefits Guide is committed to making this site usable by everyone, regardless of ability or the technology they use. We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
Accessibility is not an afterthought for us — it is central to who we serve. Our readers include older veterans, people living with mesothelioma and other serious asbestos-related illnesses, caregivers under stress, and family members who may be using screen readers, magnification, voice control, or keyboard-only navigation. Information about VA benefits should never be harder to reach for the very people who need it most.
Measures We Take
To make our content as accessible as possible, we apply the following practices across the site:
- Semantic headings: pages use a logical heading structure (H1, H2, H3) so screen-reader users can scan and jump between sections.
- Descriptive link text: links describe their destination (for example, “VA disability compensation rates” rather than “click here”).

- Sufficient color contrast: text and background colors are chosen to meet WCAG contrast requirements for readability, including for readers with low vision.
- Keyboard navigability: the site can be browsed and its links activated using a keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse.
- Responsive text sizing: layouts and text scale cleanly when you zoom your browser or increase font size, and the site works on phones, tablets, and desktops.
- Plain-language writing: we deliberately write in clear, plain English and explain VA and medical jargon, because cognitive accessibility matters as much as technical accessibility.
Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some parts of the site may not yet be fully accessible, and known limitations may exist. In particular, this site displays third-party advertising content (served by our ad network), and we do not control how those ads are built. Some ad units may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards — for example, in their contrast, labeling, or keyboard behavior. We cannot modify third-party ad code, but we welcome reports of ads that cause accessibility problems so we can review them.
We review our own content on an ongoing basis and prioritize fixing accessibility issues as we find them or as readers report them.
